Leaves Fall

It is that time of year again. We love the many trees that keep our house insulated and beautiful, and knew when we bought our house that we would have a few weeks every year of raking madness....but we are still surprised every time we actually have to figure out what to do with ALL THOSE LEAVES!!

The HUGE tree in our front yard is actually very accommodating and drops its leaves within a few short days. After spending time hauling these to our garden, we were so pleasantly surprised by the 'leaf fairy' who took the last pile AWAY in the middle of the night. Such pleasure to realize on the way to work that my chores for the afternoon were already done! (I think I just might know who this mysterious lawn service oriented person may be!) Thank you, thank you!

The kids were so helpful this year in cleaning up and not just in enjoying the piles, 'leaf angels' and jumping matches.....although that is my favorite part too. As big as the front yard trees appear, the real work is in the back yard where we woke up to 5 inches deep of leaves from one side to the other.

After spending the whole day Saturday hauling them (5 truckloads) to the city mulching facility (thanks to Lynnae for her contributions), we woke up Sunday to another blanket of leaves....it is not over yet.

So much fun! Leaves it to my Parker to throw leaves all over you!
