just so you know....

We did actually finish the bed that we made for E's birthday. We had the frame made in April for the actual birthday. . . and then we sanded, painted, and found that it was 1 inch too tall to fit into her bedroom (so glad we hadn't made the drawers yet). So we cut it apart and put it back together, sanded, painted and then slowly got the drawers made and put together. It was completed in August only 4 moths late. . .

This bed has made its way from the garage to the entryway, to the bedroom, to the garage, to the bedroom, to the other bedroom (because it wouldn't fit with the crib) to the kitchen (for fitting the drawers) to the bedroom. . .where hopefully it will stay for many years to come.

I love the way it turned out. . .and you should see the drawer organizers that we designed.....so cool and so FINISHED!!

for future reference, when we get things that won't fit through the door (a new couch) we just rip out the solid pane window and replace it with a sliding one so we can bring it in through the window. but tearing it apart and putting it back together works too.

I think you have it right. . .as long as you never have to take it out. We thought of trying to take out the window, but that would have been more work. that is what we get for being so anxious to replace them all when we moved in. . .
