Personally I am disappointed that my daughter missed the speech due to close minded, fear mongering, agenda driven, jaundiced demagogues and faint-hearted (easily bullied) bureaucrats. It could have been a cool national moment of bonding --

Hey! Just so ya know, our cable is out at school and has been since last spring, so it was kind of a moot point for us here at Cherry Creek. We couldn't have watched it if we had wanted to.
WOW. I guess I will put that in my letter to the superintendent too.
Amazing, Cherry Creek does not have cable hook up OR Internet connection?!! They are so in the dark ages over there.
Sorry for the over-the-top sarcasm but if they did want to watch the speech than a solution could have been found to make it possible for the students to be indoctrinated on such socialist brain washing topics as 'stay in school' and 'do you best'.
What I am disappointed about is the apparent political double standard being upheld at my daughter's elementary school and with in the district.
It is hard for me to believe that the same treatment would have been applied to a sitting GOP President, both here in Red country and across the nation.

ha ha ha! i loved these comments! the whole thing was silly, wasn't it? i haven't heard the speech, but i heard it was fantastic.
there was a big debate in my sister-in-law's school in orem about whether to show it or not, because so many threatened to keep their kids home on a day that would determine whether they would get title one status again (aka funding). but ultimately they decided that by not showing it, they were taking away people's ability to even decide if they wanted their kids to see it or not.
and really, why wouldn't we want our kids to see that?
i seem to sway conservative most of the time, but i get so frustrated when conservatives get so carried away about such silly things.
and i hope all this blogging means you're enjoying your maternity leave!

To many people here in Utah watching Fox new and the 'Prodigal Son' dear Brother Beck. Thankfully for ALL of us there is repentance.
I have heard that if you play Obama's message to school kids on teusday backwards you can hear him praising Satan. This just proves all the people who were opposed to the message in the first place were right!
